Beyond education and facilities, we support those who help secure the supply of coffee and improve the lives of those who produce it.
Climate change, decreasing yields, production costs and the ongoing commodification of coffee beans are all contributing to a crisis in coffee. While we cannot fix these problems on our own, we can contribute towards work that does. This is where World Coffee Research (WCR) comes in.
WCR not only helps fund research to prepare the next generation of high yield and resilient quality coffee varieties to help coffee farmers become sustainable, profitable and secure. We wholeheartedly support WCR’s collaborative approach to R&D.
How does ECRE support WCR?
It’s simple: for every kilogram of coffee roasted in our co-roasting facility, we contribute 1c to WCR. This may not sound like much, but when you consider over 15 tonnes are roasted every month at ECRE, it adds up.
We’re also the first co-roasting company in the world taking part in WCR’s checkoff program. If you want to support World Coffee Research by donating a few more cents for every kilo you roast at ECRE, we’ll take care of the admin (and you'll become a WCR member, too). Collectively, we have the power to make an impact on the livelihoods of families who produce what we love to drink.
